This FAQ covers everything you need to know about our hot-dip galvanizing services in one place. We’ve gathered the most frequently asked questions about steel galvanizing from our customers and provided clear, easy-to-understand answers from the expert team at Siam Steel Galvanizing
Q: How many types of galvanizing services does Siam Steel Galvanizing offer?
A: Siam Steel Galvanizing offers two types of galvanizing services: Hot-dip galvanizing, which is suitable for most steel structures. Centrifuge (spinning) galvanizing, which is designed for small steel components such as bolts, nuts, fasteners, and steel fittings
Q: How long does the steel galvanizing process take?
A: The galvanizing process typically takes 5–7 days, depending on the condition of the steel and the quantity of the workpieces.
Q: How many factory locations does the company have?
A: We operate three galvanizing factories in Thailand, located in key industrial areas:
Siam Steel Galvanizing Co., Ltd. (Factory 1)
Nong Khae Industrial Estate, Saraburi, Thailand

Q: How much does galvanizing cost per kilogram?
A: For shipments with a total weight of less than 50 kg per batch, a flat galvanizing fee of THB 1,000 per job applies (VAT 7% not included).
Please note that the final cost may vary depending on the type of steel.
Q: How should steel products be prepared before galvanizing?
A: At Siam Steel Galvanizing, we provide full surface preparation for every steel workpiece, every time. This includes removal of rust, oil, grease, and surface contaminants to ensure optimal zinc coating adhesion. Proper surface preparation allows the galvanized coating to bond tightly, offering long-lasting corrosion protection with a service life of over 70 years.
Q: What standards certify your galvanizing quality?
A: We place the highest priority on service standards and product quality. Our galvanizing operations are certified and compliant with the following standards:
Management Standards
ISO 9001 – Quality Management System
ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System
International Galvanizing Standards
American Standards: ASTM A123/A123M, ASTM A153/A153M
British Standards: BS 729
International Standards: BS EN ISO 1461
Australian Standards: AS 1214, AS/NZS 4680
Japanese Standards: JIS H8641
German Standards: DIN 50976
These standards ensure consistent hot-dip galvanizing quality, coating thickness, and long-term corrosion protection.
Q: What are the sizes of your galvanizing baths?
A: Siam Steel Galvanizing is fully equipped to handle all types of steel workpieces, from small components to large industrial steel structures.
Saraburi Factory
Building 1: 9.0 m (L) × 1.80 m (W) × 3.0 m (D)
Building 2: 13.5 m × 1.60 m × 2.50 m
Building 3: (Spinning / Centrifuge Galvanizing): 2.0 m × 1.0 m × 1.0 m
Samut Prakan Factory
13.5 m × 1.60 m × 2.50 m
Rayong Factory
13.5 m × 1.60 m × 2.50 m
Q: What is the difference between ground (finished) and non-ground galvanizing?
A: Ground / finished galvanizing: Our team removes zinc drips, runs, and wire marks to deliver a clean, smooth finish. Non-ground galvanizing: The workpieces are delivered as-is after galvanizing, and customers handle finishing themselves. This option allows for faster delivery times.
Q: Can you drill holes in steel workpieces?
A: Our sales team will first review drawings or photos of the workpieces to provide appropriate recommendations. On-site consultation is also available if required.
Q: Why do galvanized steel surfaces sometimes appear dull gray?
A: A dull gray or matte finish is typically caused by the silicon content in the steel combined with galvanizing bath temperature, especially in thick steel sections.
Q: Why does zinc coating fail or black marks appear on the steel?
A: This is commonly due to poor weld quality, which prevents zinc from bonding properly, or insufficient cleaning before galvanizing.
At Siam Steel Galvanizing, we provide complete steel surface preparation prior to galvanizing to ensure optimal coating quality and durability.
Q: Can steel workpieces warp due to heat during galvanizing?
A: Warping can occur, particularly with very thin steel sections, as the galvanizing bath temperature reaches approximately 450°C.
Q: Do you provide pickup and delivery services?
A: Yes. We offer pickup and delivery services using open-side 6-wheel trucks, with a maximum load of approximately 5.5 tons per trip.
Transportation fees are calculated based on distance, and customers are responsible for loading and unloading.
